Urban Teaching Apprenticeship


TEP alumna Elese Lau (Secondary Education 2017), Helen Huang-Hobbs (Secondary Education 2016) and Swetha Narasimhan (Secondary Education 2016) have been selected by the Knowles Teacher Initiative as members of its 2017 cohort of KSTF Teaching Fellowships.


Elese will begin her first year of teaching chemistry at the Harlem Children’s Zone in New York. Helen begins her second year of teaching chemistry at The Pingry School in New Jersey.

Swetha begins her second year of teaching math at The Workshop School in Philadelphia.


The Knowles Fellowship Program is a five year program supporting early career high school math and science teachers, supporting their efforts to develop teaching expertise and leadership in the classroom. Fellows have access to grants for expenses associated with purchasing classroom teaching material, to engage in professional development, and to take on leadership activities that are impactful beyond their classrooms.
