Urban Teaching Apprenticeship


TEP alumnus Nick Gurol (2017) teaches middle school science and is challenging his students to think critically about the world. Working with his science methods teacher, Susan Yoon, he is encouraging his students to think like a scientist, gathering evidence, checking sources, making hypotheses and analyzing results.  Nick finds that challenging teens’ beliefs around scientific issues is not easy, but by giving them to tools to think critically and rationally, like a scientist, their ability to challenging “fake news” will be successful.
